Steal A Verity How to Steal Verity Boxes
Approach, interact, escape the chase, and secure pets on your plot.
Stealing is the heartbeat of Steal A Verity. Every strong Trail, Index bonus, and flex pet begins with a box taken off the map and returned to your plot. This guide explains how to steal cleanly, how Monster Verity chase pressure works, and how to stay productive in seven-player lobbies.
Steal loop in plain language
- Confirm your Speed meets the zone gate
- Path to a Verity box while watching other players
- Press E to interact and pick up the steal
- Sprint home—Monster Verity pressure begins after the steal
- Bank and open the pet into a base slot
- Spend new Cash on Trails, treadmill, or slots
If you skip step 1, you cannot enter the zone. If you skip step 4, you feed the monster. If you skip step 5, the steal never becomes Cash.
Before you touch a box
Speed gates
Zones are gated by Speed. Trails (Gray 1.5x through Galaxy 30x), treadmill ranks, and Index bonuses all contribute. If a gate blocks you, leave and farm a lower area instead of staring at the barrier. Climb using the Trails guide and Treadmill and Base.
Controls readiness
You need reliable WASD movement, Space jumps, E interact, hotbar 1–0, and LMB use/place. Refresh the Controls guide if camera or hotbar mistakes cost steals.
Plot geography
Know the shortest path from each zone back to your plot and where the blue Trails shop sits. Memorizing exits matters more than memorizing every pet name on day one.
Executing the steal
Approach from an angle that keeps your escape lane open—avoid dead ends. Interact with E, confirm the box is in hand, and do not emote. Begin the return path immediately. Strafe around obstacles instead of turning in wide arcs that bleed Speed.
Other players may contest the same box. In a seven-player server, hesitation is a resource you donate to someone else. If two players arrive together, decide instantly whether to fight for it or rotate to another target.
Monster Verity chase basics
After a successful steal, Monster Verity chase pressure is the tax you pay. Treat it like a moving hazard locked onto your route home:
- Keep momentum; hard stops are deaths
- Use jumps sparingly when they maintain speed over obstacles
- Cut corners you practiced in empty moments
- Do not path through unrelated fights
- If you drop the attempt, reset and restock Speed rather than rage-requeueing poorly
The short chase clip embedded on this page shows how fast the threat closes when Speed is low. Watch it once, then practice live.
Banking and opening
Crossing into your plot safely is only half the reward. Open the box into a pet, place it in a free slot, and confirm Cash generation. If slots are full, free space via Fuse decisions or buy capacity—see the Players hub. A stolen box that never becomes a slotted pet is wasted risk.
Mid and late steal strategy
Early game
Take every safe box in low gates. Buy Gray then Green Trails so chases become survivable (Trails tier list). Follow Getting Started for the wider first-hour plan.
Mid game
Select boxes with better pet potential while still clearing Index fillers. Community ranks put Winged Verity in S, Black Smile in A, and Skinny in B—see Pets tier list. You still steal fillers when the alternative is idle time.
Late game
High Trails (Rainbow, Secret, Snow, Galaxy) exist so you can enter harsh gates and outrun longer chases. Pair that Speed with route knowledge from Secret Verity. Raw multiplier without path discipline still drops boxes.
Contested lobby tactics
- Scout which plots are active before committing
- Steal on the opposite side of the map from a brawl
- Return via less popular corridors when chases start
- Take a treadmill break if repeated deaths tilt you
- Remember scripts that auto-steal still fail when chase logic is naive (Scripts Hub)
Mistakes that kill runs
Tunnel vision on one rare spawn while poorer boxes sit free. Shopping mid-chase in the Trails UI. Assuming Rebirth will reset bad habits—there is no Rebirth (Updates Hub). Trusting fake codes for Speed instead of earning Trails (Codes Hub).
Practice drills
- Empty-ish server: steal five boxes focusing only on path smoothness
- Contested server: steal three boxes focusing on decide-and-go timing
- Speed check: after a new Trail, repeat a failed chase route until it succeeds
- Slot check: never end a session with unopened boxes if capacity exists
